The Nooksack Tribal Council approved contracting four Iweste’leq (similar to a certified teacher role) and four Iweste’leq Mi’ ytel (similar to a Para Educator role) to support Nooksack students and families in a project called the Ts’ simit To’ :lme’ Is, which in the Halq’emeylem language means nurturing wisdom.
The Ts’ simit To’ :lme’s dsign is to support families support their student master the new way of learning virtually and at a distance.
Here are a few examples of what the TS’ SIMMIT TO’ :LME’LS has to offer: reading intervention; math intervention (skill development understanding math skills, practicing math problems, applying math to real life and world problems); STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) discovery through activities; tutoring; homeschool strategies and support; and family choice as it related to promoting learning and success in school.
