PUBLIC NOTICE December 16, 2020

Update: All checks must be cashed immediately, prior to 3/15/2021.

As of Monday, December 14, 2020 the Nooksack Tribal Council approved a one-time Emergency General Welfare Assistance Distribution in response to COVID-19 to all enrolled Tribal members regardless of age. No action is required. With the confirmation of positive COVID-19 cases within the Nooksack community, this distribution is intended to assist with COVID-19 spread within the Tribal community. Under the Council’s 12/9/20 Shelter in Place Order, all residents are mandated to stay home effective until further notice.

Due to funding restrictions, the December COVID-19 Emergency Assistance Distribution will have no reissue of checks. All checks must be cashed immediately, prior to 3/15/2021. This will likely be the last emergency distribution related to COVID-19. The Council has amended Title 99 – General Welfare Ordinance so there is no tax implication to the member for this distribution.

Nooksack Tribal Council and staff will do their best to mail out the distribution to each Tribal member by Wednesday, December 16, 2020, though please expect offices to be busy in this preparation under limited staffing operations due to the governmental closure.

Please stay home and stay safe. Wear your mask and practice distancing. If you have a cough, fever, or lose your sense of smell or taste, contact the Nooksack Clinic or your private provider right away to see if you need testing.
