Tribal Council Approves a Shelter In-Place Order – EXTENDED

Tribal Council

The Nooksack Tribal Council approved a time extension on the Shelter In-Place Order effective until noon April 30, 2020. This resolution is in response to mitigating the COVID-19 pandemic by providing a mandate for all individuals residing on Tribal trust land to shelter in-place.

We are continuing to work to stay ahead of this as much as possible. To date, Nooksack DOES NOT have any positive cases of COVID-19. This is great news!!

Be assured that certain essential activities will be allowed. Individuals may travel from their homes to:

  • Provide or receive essential services such as taking care of family members or to obtain medical services;
  • Engage in certain essential activities such as going to get groceries, medications, fishing, hunting and gathering; and,
  • Work for essential businesses, essential infrastructure, and vital Nooksack governmental functions.

Nooksack Indian Tribe will continue to provide for the health, safety and welfare of the members during this shelter in-place time period.
When it is necessary for you to leave your home, please practice good social distancing, take great care to protect our elders, and wash your hands frequently. We cannot stress enough the value of each and every one of our members. Please join us in taking every precaution to mitigate the impacts of this virus. Please stay home.
