Water Program

The purpose of the Water Program is to operate and maintain our community water systems by performing mechanical and electrical operations of the wells, pumphouses, and distribution systems, collecting water samples, and troubleshooting any water system issues as needed. There are a number of tests collected periodically to ensure good quality water is going out to the Nooksack community. The Water Program’s scope of service is from the water source (well, tower or pumphouse) up to 2 feet from the structure on a property. Everything within 2 feet of the structure or inside the structure itself is either a homeowner’s responsibility in a conveyed unit, or if in a rental unit a tenant can reach out to the Housing Department for assistance.

Wastewater Program

The purpose of the Wastewater Program is to inspect, operate, and maintain the various communal wastewater systems that serve various residential, commercial, educational, health, and administrative facilities. Maintenance responsibility of the Wastewater Program is all components of the different types of septic systems that serve communal buildings such as Tribal offices, commercial buildings, and neighborhood community buildings. At this time, maintenance of Tribal single-family residences is primarily the responsibility of the resident or Housing Department, but any Tribal members are welcome to contact the Utility Department with questions or concerns about any septic systems on Tribal lands.

Stormwater/Streets Program

The purpose of the Stormwater/Streets Program is to inspect and maintain the stormwater conveyance systems and shared roadways on Tribal lands. This includes periodic cleaning and inspection of stormwater catch basins, stormwater piping, ponds, and culverts. This program also works to locate issues and deficiencies with roadways and non-commercial parking areas, and performing upkeep and maintenance as required. Please feel free to reach out to the Utility Department with any questions or concerns about stormwater collection or conveyance, or to report any areas of pavement needing attention.
